Howard McLaren (Bb.VP, Senior Artistic Director)
Creative force (and Bb.VP, Senior Artistic Director) Howard McLaren first began hairdressing in Glasgow where he learned classic techniques in cutting and styling. Soon after, he discovered education and stage work in London, and eventually session work in Paris, where he first encountered the razor and had a chance meeting with Bumble and bumble Founder, Michael Gordon (two events that would drastically change his life).

In 1988, Howard came to New York City to work at Bumble and bumble as the top salon stylist. His use of the razor garnered much attention and the technique soon came to define our signature cutting style. When hairdressers from across the country started lining up to watch the master at work, he knew it was something he had to teach others (and thus, the Bb. Education plan was born).

More than twenty years later, his vision, photographs, films, trademark razor technique (and razor-sharp Scotsman's wit) fuel the creative soul of the company.

His connection to (and passion for) the editorial world has never faltered. He has a rare eye for talent, which he uses to scout the industry for promising stylists to join the Bb.Team; photograph Bb. campaigns; film (and often narrate!) most Bb.Films; travel the world educating fellow stylists in the Bb.Salon Network; execute modeling career-launching makeovers; and think up new product ideas in his spare time.
